Washington FC shocked Pittsburgh Steelers and Heinz Field, while Buffalo Bills didn’t have any troubles against the 49ers. This would be the shortest possible recap of Monday Night Football on December 7.
The resurrected Football Team was unstoppable in the final minutes against the Steelers, scoring on three straight possessions and delivering a massive sensation. Ron Rivera’s crew rallied back from a 14-point deficit to win at Heinz Field, 23-17.
Ben Roethlisberger failed to step up when it mattered the most, throwing an interception with the Steelers being down, 20-17, and handing a chance for the guests to increase their lead. Dustin Hopkins was the man in charge of scoring for the guests in the finish, with the kicker notching two 45-yard field goals.
Alex Smith was solid, having 296 yards, 31-of-46 for one touchdown, without interceptions. His only touchdown toss ended in Logan Thomas’ arms. Peyton Barber added one more score on the ground.
Meanwhile, Big Ben was 35-for-53 for two TD passes and one pick. Diontae Johnson and James Washington had a touchdown catch each. A devastating thing for the Steelers was that their best rusher had 15 yards on 4 carries.
Up next they have a trip to Buffalo to meet the Bills, while Washington travels to Glendale to meet the 49ers.
These two sides met at the State Farm Stadium, which will be the home to San Francisco’s team over the next few weeks due to the COVID-19 restrictions imposed back home.
Bills won the matchup, 34-24, holding everything under control right from the start, not allowing the injury-troubled 49ers to make a push at any point. Kyle Shanahan had numerous troubles with injuries, and apart from Jimmy Garoppolo and George Kittle, who didn’t play, his defense team was also weakened with several absences.
Josh Allen and the visitors cleverly used that, with Buffalo’s quarterback ending the game with four TD passes, all to different teammates and 375 yards through the air.
Cole Beasley had 130 receiving yards and a TD, with Gabriel Davis, Dawson Knox, and Isaiah McKenzie adding one apiece too.
For the 49ers, Nick Mullens posted 316 yards with three touchdown tosses and two interceptions. Brandon Aiyik caught one pass for a score and had 95 yards through the air. Jordan Reed, too had a TD reception.
San Francisco is 5-7 with minimal chances of entering the playoffs, while Bills lead the AFC East with 9-3.
